-Anonymous
Athanase (Tony) Charbonneau, 87, died on February 17, 2016, after a short illness, with Dolorese, his beloved wife of 65 years, at his bedside.
He also leaves seven children: Diane King, Lise Mack, Bob, Francine Johnson, Carole Ruiter, Sylvie Hoggarth and Gerald. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A native of Cobalt, Ontario, he was the youngest of eight children to Évariste and Clara (née Larabie). He is predeceased by all his siblings.
Tony retired from the Peel County Board of Education in 1993, after 25 years of dedicated service. A devoted husband and father, he was an unselfish hardworking man who set an example to follow. His family will greatly miss their patriarch and hero.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Southbrook Retirement Community for their compassionate care during his final days.
Private funeral services were held by the family on February 21 and cremation followed. In memoriam donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
