<div itemprop="description">&ldquo;When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure&rdquo; <br />-Anonymous <br /> <br />Athanase (Tony) Charbonneau, 87, died on February 17, 2016, after a short illness, with Dolorese, his beloved wife of 65 years, at his bedside. <br />He also leaves seven children: Diane King, Lise Mack, Bob, Francine Johnson, Carole Ruiter, Sylvie Hoggarth and Gerald. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. <br />A native of Cobalt, Ontario, he was the youngest of eight children to &Eacute;variste and Clara (n&eacute;e Larabie). He is predeceased by all his siblings. <br />Tony retired from the Peel County Board of Education in 1993, after 25 years of dedicated service. A devoted husband and father, he was an unselfish hardworking man who set an example to follow. His family will greatly miss their patriarch and hero. <br />The family wishes to thank the staff of Southbrook Retirement Community for their compassionate care during his final days. <br />Private funeral services were held by the family on February 21 and cremation followed. In memoriam donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. <br /></div>
