Harold Janes
January 30, 1918 - October 16, 2014
JANES, Harold “Roy” - 1918 - 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce Roy Janes passed away peacefully on October 16, 2014 in Bolton at the age of 96. Roy was born in St. John’s, NL, the son of the late Herbert Janes and the late Minnie Clarke. He married the love of his life, Hildredclare “Dee” (Newdick) (died July 20, 2011) on December 24, 1940. They were married for over 70 years – thru separation of war, lean postwar years, and then better and better times. Truly a great partnership that lasted the ages.
Roy leaves behind his loving children Linda (Jim Cunningham), Karyn (Phillip Hall), Cheryl (Cheri); his beloved grandchildren Dianne Calder, Sharon (Sherry) Grant, Ian Cunningham (Rafeena), Tracy Hall, Brenda Armstrong, Lauren Smith ; great-grandchildren Kelsey, Rian, Zachary, Ben, Aaron. Roy was predeceased by his brothers Art, Fred and sister Helen. In 1978 Roy retired after a 25 year career with Bell Canada. Prior to working at the Bell, Roy was employed by the TTC post-war.
We wish to express our thanks to the Brampton Civic Hospital Palliative Care unit (Dr. S. Khasimuddin and the nursing staff) and most especially to the incredibly compassionate staff at the Davis Centre in Bolton. Your professionalism helped us through this difficult time. We were very appreciative of the number of staff that passed through his room in his final days and all your kind words and deeds.
