It is with overwhelming sadness and regret we announce the sudden passing of Jose Soares Pereira on Monday May 25th in Brampton, in his 82 year of life.
Born in the Azores Portugal and proud of his heritage, Joe at 12 years old met Fatima when 10 years old. So impressed, young Joe would climb the light post outside of Fatima’s school just to get a glimpse of her in class. Those simple beginnings would lead to a 70 year relationship together, 57 years of marriage and blessed with a son and a daughter.
Joe was a proud family man, determined to provide his family a better way of life by leaving the islands in 1965 with only $300 in his pocket. And Joe did just that working for Bombardier, Boeing, and DeHavilland Aircraft before retiring in 1992.
Joe was most proud of his family. He leaves behind the love of his life, Fatima whom he doted on from the first day he met her and whom he will always watch over. His son, Joe (Lisa), who also carried on the family tradition, not just in name, but also in working together at Bombardier. And his daughter Isabel (Dave) whom he adored and cherished with that special bond only a father and daughter can share. He also leaves behind two grand children, Patrick and Catherine. His many nieces and nephews, including Fatinha, Diva and John, and his great nieces will all miss him. He was also a proud “Grandpa” to his adored Grandpets, Zac and Rosie, whom he spoiled with great abandon.
A wonderful man, with a witty sense of humour who cherished a good debate, he had green thumbs and taught everyone around him strong work ethics. His love of travel and adventure grew from his early work with the US Air Force, and lasted his entire life. Joe was a special, and most beloved man of all of his friends and family.

Visitation will take place Sunday, May 31st, at 2-6 pm, at Brampton Funeral Home and Cemetery, 10061 Chinguacousy Road, Brampton, L7A 0H6 905-460-9155
Funeral Mass will take place Monday, June 1st, 2015 at St. Leonard’s Church 187 Conestoga Dr. Brampton, Internment to follow at Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery, followed by a gathering for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Leprosy Mission Canada and the Non-fatal canine and feline animal shelters would be appreciated by the family.
Guests may pay condolences online at www.bramptonmemorial.com
