Whendie Tibeth Palmer (nee Cole), Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Godmother and friend to many, passed away on June 9th, 2015 at 1:00 am in the Sunnybrook Hospital. Present at her passing was husband Eyon, Son Gary and family friend Glentis.

She will be sadly missed by her immediate family, her church family, relatives and friends here and abroad.

She was called to rest after battling cancer for the past year. She was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in June, 2014.

Whendie took early retirement in 2000 from the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board where she worked for over 30 years. After retirement she shared her living years between Canada and Jamaica. While in Jamaica she got involved in her community. She served as secretary of the Robin’s Bay Primary School board of governors for two years. Showing appreciation for her tenure as secretary, the school named a house in her honour. PALMER house was the champion house for many years. In addition to being house leader and mother, she assisted needy children and was instrumental in launching a breakfast program at the school.

Her place of worship in Canada was the Kingdom Covenant Centre in Mississauga.

She is survived by Husband Eyon, Son Gary, Daughter Michelle, Sister Sonia, Granddaughters Renee, Shayon and Gabrielle, Grandson Johnathan, Nieces Jackie and Barbara, Nephew Clive and Daughter- in- law Malicia.

As we celebrate her life, knowing Whendie, the following would be probably what she would say to her family:

I may be gone but please don’t cry, death is not the last goodbye

Death releases me of my pain, there will come a day we will meet again

Don’t be blue and don’t be sad, think back to the fun we had

I am always here, I hear you speak, in times of trouble it’s me you seek

You don’t see me but I see you, I will do my best to pull you through

Speak to me and I will hear, never far, I am always near

Be brave my love and do not cry, see you again, it’s not goodbye.

She will be sadly missed by a multitude of people. We can keep her alive in our hearts and in our memories. We thank God for the opportunity to have shared in her life and she in ours
