Lorna Hendricks, passed away on January 13, 2016 at the age of 76, at Brampton Civic Hospital, following complications from a massive stroke that occurred on December 12, 2015.

Lorna was born in Linstead, Jamaica to Constantine Spence and Gwendolyn Clarke, Commissioner of Police and a homemaker. She attended the prestigious boarding school, St. Andrew Preparatory School, in Jamaica, and later went on to Fitz-Henley Secretarial Institute Business School. Lorna worked at Lascelles De Mercado & Company, and First Federation Life, in Jamaica, then later, for many years, at the Palm Beach County Library in West Palm Beach, Florida.

On March 3, 1962, Lorna married Winston (Jack), a Civil Servant with the British and Jamaican Governments. In 1964 and 1967, respectively, they welcomed Dave Andrew, and Tracy-Ann Jacqueline into their lives.

Lorna was passionate about the world, and the famous people in it. She particularly enjoyed traveling by airplane. And much preferred it to travel by car. Planes took her to farther destinations, much faster. She was privileged to have visited many countries in her lifetime, and maintained many international friendships, through letters, email and facebook. The Royal family and the world of celebrities was of special interest to Lorna. Nutrition was another love. She was always aware of the best methods and latest trends, and it was typical of her to be recommending something that would be of benefit to your wellness. Other interests included reading, watching television and listening to music. The Young & the Restless, The View and Dr. Oz were some of her favourites, as were the performers, Tom Jones, Adele and Pitbull!

Lorna's unexpected departure has shocked many. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 54 years, Winston; her children, Dave and Tracy; brothers, Bevin and Franklin; sisters Alison (Pansy) and Sheila; grandsons, Omar, Bryce, Jared and Noah; as well as cousins, Valerie (Gem), Gregory, Alric, Marie, Claudette, Cecille, Steven, Dianne, Andrew; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends, all of whom, have been exceedingly supportive during this time.

A big thank you the hospital staff in Emergency and ICU at Trillium Health Centre, in Mississauga, as well as those in Emergency, ICU and Neurology at Brampton Civic Hospital. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, enthusiasm, positivity and expertise. Thank you for your skills and your smiles. Thank you for talking to her as you would anyone else, even though we weren't sure what she could hear or understand. Thank you for calling her Mama and Beautiful every day.

All are welcomed to attend and celebrate Lorna's life. If unable to attend, please do sign the online guestbook.

Those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, in memory of Lorna, are asked to consider the William Osler Health System Foundation, Brampton Civic Hospital, 2100 Bovaird Drive East, Brampton, ON L6R 3J7 905.494.6890 www.oslerfoundation.org or to the charity of your choice.
