Weaver, Jean Margaret (née Wilkinson)-
In her 97th year, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2013 in Brampton, Ontario. Jean was born March 26, 1917 in Erith, Kent England to Frederick and Emily Wilkinson. Loving mother of Jennifer Trevelyan née Kirk (Dickson), Bronwyn Fenwick née Weaver (Paul), David Weaver (Tammy), grandmother of Sandra Trevelyan-Soln (David Soln), Ellen Trevelyan (Steve Smither) and Aidan Fenwick, great- grandmother of Kristen, Brandon and Emma. Jean was predeased by her brother Richard Wilkinson of Sydney, Australia. With her fine mezzo-soprano voice, Jean was a keen participator in Gilbert and Sullivan musicals as a young woman before WWII. During the war, Jean served as a Red Cross volunteer and survived the bombing of London (the Blitz). In 1942 in England, Jean married a Canadian soldier, Manley Kirk, where their daughter Jennifer was born two years later. Jean immigrated to Canada as a War Bride in August 1946 to join her husband and they resided in Wiarton, Ontario. In Wiarton Jean worked for the Bruce County Health Unit, was an active member of the IODE, attended Trinity Anglican Church, and started the First Wiarton Girl Guide Company and later became the District Commissioner. Jean was widowed in 1953. She remained in Wiarton until 1958 when she married Glyndon Weaver and moved to Port Credit, Ontario. Jean and Glyn had two children, Bronwyn and David. In 1964, the Weavers moved to Peel Village in Brampton, Ontario, where Jean lived until her passing. Glyn predeceased Jean in April, 2007. Jean was an active volunteer of the Brampton hospital auxiliary for over 35 years. She loved her garden and was an active member of the Brampton Horticulture Society. Jean was extremely fond of all animals. Her devoted companion of many years, her cat Percy, died in April 2013. A celebration of Jean's life will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11am with visitation 1 hour prior at the Brampton Memorial Chapel & Visitation Centre– 10061 Chinguacousy Rd. (at Bovaird) 905-460-9155 Private inurnment in Brampton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the William Osler Hospital in Brampton, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Brampton Humane Society would be appreciated.
