It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Rosemary Harriet McDowell at the age of 74. Born in Lurgan, Northern Ireland to Robert and Harriet Gurd, will be survived and missed by her brother Alan Gurd and sister Edna Maxwell.

Survived by her loving husband Dr. Shaun Alexander McDowell. They were married on November 6, 1962 at Knock Methodist Church in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 1971 they immigrated to Canada with their 4 young children.

Lovingly remembered by her children David (Laura), John (Brenda), Jane (Scott) and Ruth (Mike) and her grandchildren; Owen, Dannan, Shaun, Tanner, Quinn, Keegan, Hannah, Ryan, James and Caitlin.

Rosemary will be missed by everyone she touched. From her 40+ years of service at Bramalea Baptist Church to her volunteer work for the Peel School Board, her contributions were numerous. She opened her home to visitors and always gave without ever expecting anything in return. That open door also extended to her dogs. She treated them all with care and compassion and loved them all dearly. Ally, her current Dalmatian will miss her. Her passion for flowers was unsurpassed and she built a successful florist business for over 30 years.
She enjoyed seeing her children, and then grandchildren, involved in sport and activities and was very proud of their achievements.

The funeral service will be held at Bramalea Baptist Church, 9050 Dixie Road, Brampton, Ontario on Saturday November 28th at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
